My Home

These were my first attempt at painting on tapa cloth. I tried to make traditional designs on the one above.
And I made up some of my own design for this one...
I did these with the help of my mother-in-law and sister-in-law on one of our trips to Tonga. All the dye is made from natural materials. The tapa cloth is made from the bark of the paper mulberry tree.

  1. very cool, they would look neat all framed up but with no glass , if that makes sense?

  2. I love tapa cloth artwork... looking awesome!

  3. What a great thing to have been able to do! Love your design :)

  4. You made these in Tonga?!? Where???? We're hoping to take the kids for a visit/meet family in next year or so... I'd LOVE to make/ paint tapa while we're there... Yours are beautiful - I hope you've got them displayed proudly somewhere?!?!

  5. I'm half Samoan, half Kiwi... my partner is NZ born full Tongan... I wish I met him on holiday in Tonga?!?! Thanks for your comments and advice - I've tried looking up eenie naps too - not sure if website or my laptop is to blame but can't get on their site today...

Thanks for checking out my blog. I'm always interested to hear your feedback on my posts and enjoy finding new people to visit so please leave a comment.
